i had to order through your site to get my sardines, used to get them at Meijers and they no longer carry them now, and its really hard to find sardines in tomato sauce anywhere, wish i coiild still get them in the store its easier instead for having to wait for shipping and paying extra for ship costs. But your sardines are reallyl good and I love them

The Portuguese and Spanish sardines produced by Matiz, Nuri and Amaro have to be the best.

I've tried pretty much every brand of sardines available, even the high-end French aged sardines at $10-11 a can. People have differing opinions about their favorites, but IMO, these are the best

This is my second year of buying these. My hubby love...love...loves these and I get them for Christmas. This year I bought them in bulk so he'd have them throughout the year. Wish they were alittle cheaper...
vyacheslav bobik
Only bought this because the internet said it was the best sardines in tomatoe sauce. They are not bad, but it's nowhere close to a King Oscar sardine
Craig Doner
Best sardines I have found.
Sam
The price is high ,the taste is good

Best sardines I have eaten in a long time.

These sardines are really really delicious. I ate them right out of the can and they were hearty with great flavor. The pureé doesn't taste like ketchup. The price point is high but so is the quality, no doubt.

Wild caught sardines, perfect length, freshest tomato sauce flavor...CLASSIC!!

A good quality, meaty fish, slightly drier than the equivalent but hard to find King Oscar product. I'd like a little more "tang" to the tomato sauce (some Sriracha fixes that) but overall very enjoyable on wheatbread crisps.
Curtis White
Just an amazing product

These are amazing, I love putting them with malagueta peppers on toast as a quick lunch or even a protein-packed snack. They taste so good honestly and when I was sent the wrong flavor, I got sent the correct one really quickly and I really appreciated it.
Ray
I was having trouble finding sardines in tomato sauce. These are excellent quality. Well worth the price. And the tomato sauce is not overly salted or tangy.
JC
Pretty straight forward Sardine, nothing spectacular. Tomato flavor is very mild as it's just puree. The only slight I can give these is that the firmness & taste is very canned Tuna like which I personally am not crazy about in a sardine. But nonetheless, these are solid and I'd purchase again to have around.

It’s so hard to find sardines in tomato sauce. These were definitely delicious
Michael Acosta
Yes, I do believe this is one tasty canned sardines and I absolutely recommend it if you can afford the $2.40 per price. Oh and of course for those who like it in tomato sauce, I love it.
Steve P
Very good sardines. The tomato flavoring is mild and real tasting.

Get in my belly! Portuguese sardines are the finest in the world. Don’t hesitate just buy.
Dionysus Sotirios
Great product. It’s hard to beat the Portuguese when it comes to making a quality can of sardines.
Rob
the tomato sauce is excellent
Amazon Customer
Quality and favor is what separates sardine packed in Portugal.

Was curious about real Sardines and these were cheaper than the famous 'documentary' brand . Glad I got these. I want more!

These sardines are what I like, canned with olive oil and tomato sauce, but they don’t have as much flavor as I like. However, canned this way they are not easy to find, so I am not really complaining. Next time I will try another brand that offers many flavors but costs a little more. Worth a try.

Quality is everything

Excellent flavor. We are really enjoying these as healthy snacks.
Katie Strader
These Santo Amaro sardines taste just like the sardines in tomato sauce I used to purchase while visiting Germany. The sardines have nice tender bones and the tomato sauce is tasty and not too sweet. These sardines are a staple in my diet and are super convenient.
Brad
I like that they are in tomato. The fish are a little large though.

I really enjoy the flavor and that it has less sodium than most brands. Unfortunately hard to come by. When available, going to order more!

Bought these to fulfill my curiosity with Portuguese Sardines. My usual sardines are the King Oscar Brisling Sardines, small, delicate and mild, which is the way I like them. These are the opposite, big, bit chewy and flavorful.Instead of having twenty tiny sardines per pack, there are three big ones. And these are packed in tomato sauce which is nice and sweet but not overly sweet, just right. Some of the fish has roe which was a pleasant surprise. These are great to eat with bread or over rice with ground pepper.I would definitely restock them for my pantry along with the usual brislings.

The favor is very good. I add a bit more garlic 😋

These are wonderful, exceeded our expectations by a lot. Unfortunately, they appear to be no longer available. What a pity!

Love the taste and quality. Clearly superior to cheaper alternatives from Third World Contries

I don't really eat sardines, but I bought this in anticipation of staying at home for a while during the pandemic. I decided to eat it with oatmeal, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the sardines.

Very good

I have ordered these sardines twice now, first order I placed were excellent! I thought I found my go-to brand of sardines; and quality wild caught, line caught Sardines from Europe and packed in Portugal too! Well the first batch I ordered were as close to perfection as I could expect and actually exceeded my expectations for flavor, taste and quality. The second batch I ordered in March was quite different though! They tasted either not 100% fresh, or possibly overcooked. Much harder and much less flavorful and fresh tasting than the first batch! The first batch was so fresh and easily broke apart with the touch of a fork, but the second batch was hard and had a slightly bitter aftertaste. 5 or more stars for the first batch I ordered, two to three stars for the second batch!

I've tried a ton of sardine venders, these are at the top

I love to eat a can of sardines for lunch and these are the best I've ever eaten. They are firm, tasty and moist in a nice tomato sauce. They are complete sardines, unlike many brands that contain bits and pieces. When I lived in Portugal, I ate Santo Amaro sardines when I could find them. Fortunately, they are available in the US and arrive just two days after I order them from Amazon. At $2.33 a can, they are a good buy.
The One
Love the taste and super fresh. I dont think I need to buy any other sardine after this. Perfected in many way.
Jorge M.
Absolutely delicious sardines. Worth every cent. Fresh sardine flavor, no overpowering fishy smell or aftertaste. Tomato sauce is mild and it doesn’t overpower the fresh sardine flavor. Great with saltines, a little ðŸ‹, and Tobasco sauce. Delicious!
Sparhawk
Great product for a good price.

So these are the first canned sardines i have ever had. I was alittle worried about how they would taste and be fishy. But man to my surprise they taste exactly like canned tuna. It was very mild and clean, tasted very good. The can had 3 big sardines stuffed and the bones are very soft i like the texture. I wish i had tried these earlier man, i have been missing out. Expiration on box was Dec 2020.
CincyRedsFan513
These are delicious in the tomato sauce. There were three plump sardines that had the tails and heads removed. This is great on crackers out of the can. I wish they used olive oil rather than sunflower oil.
James Brennan
I love the taste and protein amount

I recommend these sardines to anyone who likes sardines or even those who may not know what sardines are like. These are much better than the mushy sardines found at most supermarkets in the U.S., as they are still fresh tasting and have adequate firmness. This tells me they were steam cooked on racks and canned after, leaving many of the oils to drip slowly off the fish before being placed in the tins. The sauce (tomato) is clean and smooth, with no strong acidity, which also tells me they will last a good time when stored. These are very good quality sardines.

The first thing I did after I opened up the can was to take a good whiff to make sure if there were any fishy odors coming out. But much to my delight, there was none. I only smelled a little bit of the tomato sauce. Two thumbs up!Next thing I tested was, of course, the first bite. Yes, there was some fish taste. But it's a fish, so obviously, that was to be expected. However, it wasn't a very potent fishy taste, and it was on the small side at that too. I couldn't taste a lot of the tomato sauce; just a little. However, the sauce still made the bite flavorful. There was a little bit of oil in the can. I'm not sure if it was olive oil or the fish oil, but it didn't matter all that much. The tomato sauce actually looked and tasted like how a tomato sauce should look and taste like. Way different compared to the King Oscar's zesty tomato canned fish. The fish was not salty, at least to me. It was perfect. The texture of the fish was meaty, but not coarse (like bumblebee canned tunas). I think it was due to the way it was canned. The fish were probably smoked and dried a bit before being canned with the tomato sauce. It gives a meaty and firm texture. Awesome! You can feel the bones too, but only on the first bites. I prefer the fish this way. Definitely better in texture compared to crown princes skinless and boneless canned fish. The last thing I checked was the after-taste. Yes, I still had a little bit of the fish taste and a little bit of the tomato sauce in my mouth. However, after doing the "smell-your-own-breath" test, I could not smell any fishy odors coming out of my mouth. I think the after-taste was probably from the small amount of oils. It disappeared shortly after taking two small sips of wine, so I was pleasantly surprised.Overall, the product is a very, very low odorous-inducing canned fish. And yet, the taste and texture are great. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in eating canned fish for the omega 3s, but without the rancid and fishy odors.I will definitely be ordering more in the near future.

These sardines in sauce are part of a seafood sampler I gave to a friend. He opened a can the day the package arrived and said they were very good.He told me sardines what and packed in Portugal are supposed to be the best in the world. Nutritiously they are high in protein at excellent for you. They make a great snack to boost your energy level. They also have additional health benefits

My fifth grade nephew received my Christmas gift of 12 tins of Santo Amaro sardines and literally danced for joy. Beautifully packaged and wrapped, they are an excellent football pregame snack for prolonged energy before his games.

Believe the 5 star reviews! These are AWESOME!!!!!!! The sauce is very tasty and the sardines are of excellent quality! And it's nice to buy a product from somewhere other than Asia! GO EU!!!!!! I also LOVE Brunswick sardines in Mustard Dill sauce - they're equally yummy! And I'd suggest having a chunk of bread to sop up the sauce for both of these.
Ken6
I love the packaging and the taste of this brand, high quality product.

For reference, the only tomato sauce swimmers I enjoyed are the Alstertor herring filets in tomato sauce. I've tried various sardines in tomato sauce, haven't found any worth eating. Until I tried these. As other reviewers have said, these are hands down the best I've tried. They're in the rotation now.

I always love the flavor of tomatoes goes with sardines. It cancels the fishy smell. 3 big pieces in each can. Pretty good price.
joanna
Good quality and very tasty. For me it is a quick lunch.

I decided to try the Santos in the Tomato Puree and all I can say is their the best damn fish in anything tomato I have tried thus far. If you like Sardines in red sauce you will love these, i'm going to order again soon, love these fish..

Santo amaro sardines are a great tasting easy lunch alternative. Just put it over salad and there is no need for extra dressing . Tomato sauce work great instead of the dressing .

Good quality for the price - enjoyed with extra Virgin high end olive oil

SANTO AMARO Sardines in Tomato Sauce are delicious. I never was a fan of sardines in tomato sauce, I tried King Oscar's in zesty tomato sauce & a few others, these are Much better, the tomato flavor is not strong, just a good flavor, no bitterness & no sugars added. The fish are firm, not fishy and are cleaned very good, they are now my favorite sardine. I highly recommend, I just ordered my 3rd. 12 pack.
